Ok, who LOVES the new Cbox? I do. So much easier.... Although it defeats the purpose of all the smaaaall posts I may want to put in just quickie, you know? We were talking about that word in math the other day - small. It so does not seem like a real word if you write it over and over again.
On "Bubble Gum Flavor"
Why do they have tootsie rolls and lollipops that are "Bubble Gum Flavored" and then they go and flavor bubble gum? Like have you ever seen "Sour Apple Flavored Bubble Gum Flavor"? Noooo. That would just look stupid. And yuck. Like why would they flavor it like that, just say bubble gum flavor. But you never GET any bubble gum these days that are actually the original BUBBLE GUM flavor anymore! That really bugs me. That's like making something apple flavored and then flavoring apples. They flavor water these days, for Christ's sake! Seriously.
On That Cold, Wet Freezing Rain We Had The Other Day
I know weather is absolutely nothing to be talking about in a blog, but whatever. It was some seriously cool weather. Mrs. Mallozzi would love to hear me say that. Anyway, I was walking home feeling sort of down in this seriously torrential rain (I'm into saying 'seriously' a lot today) and then I looked around and it was just cold enough so the rain just barely froze on the bottoms of all the branches of the trees (well, of course they were branches of the trees, what else could they be branches of?) and it looked kind of like it looks when it snows really lightly and there is no wind and it is really still before some wind comes and blows all the snow off the trees and it's not so perfect anymore. But anyway, if you've ever looked into a forest right after it snows really lightly like that, it looks really pretty because it's so intricate, all the white on the black. (I'm starting to freak myself out here, sounding sort of loony) Well, that's what it looked like the other day, except the ice was on the bottoms of all of the branches instead of the top. Wow, look how much space I wasted talking about rain. Anyway, Dad had to go out and do who-knows-what and my sis was sleeping cuz she's sick-sick-sick (cuz she drank six sodas - no, just kidding. Ever read that Dr. Seuss book?) so I boots and rain coat on and went out. I'm not really sure why, just had an urge I guess. There were plenty of other things I could have done instead like go on the comp or call someone or read a book or do my homework or blog or something. But I just didn't. I went out and broke off a hunk of ice from the little cache of snow trying to brave the high temperatures left over from the huge pile that used to be there from the plow. The only other snow on our property is the remains of the huge snowman me and my sister built ages ago that fell down shortly after we made it. Anyway, I broke a hunk off with Katherine's stick (mine broke a while ago and I haven't gotten around to getting another one) and started kicking it. I kicked it all the way down the driveway and then all the way down the street. I probably shouldn't have, it was probably not such a good idea leaving my sister at home and the house unlocked and just sort of going off. Guess I'm not so responsible. But nothing was going to happen; I live in a pretty safe town. Well, anyway, I kicked that hunk of ice all the way down the driveway and by then it still hadn't disintegrated so I told myself I would only kick it as far as I had to until it was reduced to nothing. That was actually pretty far. When I got to the end of the street, I had to turn back because of course I had gone past the end of the street on walks before and I was totally allowed to, I did actually remember my sister at home. So I kicked it back. I can just imagine all my neighbors looking out their windows and seeing my relentlessly kicking this chunk of ice down the street and looking pathetic. Luckily I didn't actually see anyone. There's something oddly inspiring about kicking chunks of ice down the street in the rain. Makes you do a little reflection, I guess. About stuff. I'm not about to say I though about my life and how it's been going so far and how much my experiences meant to me, because a) that would just be beyond corny, and b) nobody who ever actually does that thinks about it that way, although I must say a little self-reflection here and there doesn't hurt however corny it may seem and a lot of people are just too busy or oblivious to stop and think a little from time to time. But anyway, back to the point, nobody actually asks themselves "Oh, I wonder how my life's been going" because that's something you just know. It's always going on and it seems kind of stupid to ask yourself a question like that. You don't even think "I'm going to reflect upon my life right now" you just sort of start remembering what happened today and yesterday and just start going further back. (pretty much this topic has gone from lame to lamer - I should retitle it "On Self-Reflection") So that's what I did and pretty soon I was back home and the hunk of ice was just a little smaller than it was when I started off. Which was pretty pathetic on my part because you'd think being kicked all the way down the street and back would have had some effect on it, but then it was just an intractable slab of ice. We read a Junior Grade Books short story that was kind of like that yesterday. It was about prejudice. Mrs. Graybill was getting really into it and was going on about how in "Lift Every Voice and Sing" (black nat'l anthem) and that story we were reading both had a happy ending but how we shouldn't forget all the stuff they had to go through in the beginning to get there. That's like the hunk of ice. I know that was a really random connection. Like she was also talking about how poetry truly captures emotion, etc. I kind of agree, though. It does. Like I was thinking the other day how no matter what I write in my blog, it will never really express what really happened that day. I can describe it, but I can't say what really happened. That's the difference. (Ok, interrupting - the sis is watching Mary Poppins right now, and I l.o.v.e. that Bert dude - I say this because we just recently got a new copy of the movie and the old one never had the first part with the one man band, I didn't even know it had that first part cuz my dad cut it out. Can't quite remember why...) So back to the rain which = frozen, but also really pretty. We have a set of those wire outdoorsy furniture sets and when I whacked the table, all the icy crystalline bits stuck to the bottom of the table came off and it sounded really cool. But when I got back, I was soaked.
On MMR shots
So when I was like 9 months old, some genius of a nurse gave me my MMR shot (that is, Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) 3 weeks early. I can hear you thinking in your mind, "who cares, exactly?" Well, I wouldn't either, it was years ago. But now the school nurse is threatening to take me out of school because I don't want another one and I'm like "WHAT?!" Who actually has such good records that they even know that, I mean come ON - it was YEARS ago! But now I have a newfound respect for the medical system. I actually took one when I was 11 because in the general procedure of things, people get 3 over the course of their childhood but now they want me to have 4 and my parents don't want me to have it because it may make me outrageously sick/kill me if i get an overdose since when i got it as a younger kid, I also got outrageously sick. Apparently state law says that absolutely everybody MUST get their MMR shot before their 1st birthday otherwise it's not affective so I guess now I'm a walking germ factory just because some bright person gave me mine early when I wasn't even one yet. Such is my luck. So-long yon school buddies of mine.
